Welcome to Chew The Stat!

My name is Ash Walls and Chew The Stat is a space I’ve created to put my thoughts on sports analytics into the form of words and graphics and to chew the fat about sports stats and all that goes along with them.

Having previously worked as a football analyst with Hawthorn FC as well as completing a degree in statistics, I’m nearly always on the hunt for new ways to analyse sports data in order to uncover hidden truths and tell stories through the use of numbers.

On Chew The Stat you’ll find a mix of studies into sports game strategy, list management, predictive modelling and any other topics which I felt were worth investigating.
